Anne Weyman strategic vision

Professor Sir Graeme Catto

Graeme Catto

Former Chair of the General Medical Council
I was delighted when Anne was appointed to the General Medical Council. Her clarity of thought and ability to focus on the essential elements of complex issues ensured that her views were influential with her colleagues.
As President I knew I could always rely on Anne to make informed comments on sensitive issues in a way that helped us all come to an agreed outcome without rancour.

Anne has the ability to encourage less experienced colleagues and always expresses her opinions lucidly and honestly.   She is a great asset to any organisation in which she takes an interest.

Sarah Wootton

Sarah Wooton

Chief ExecutiveDignity in Dying
Having Anne as my mentor was the best investment Dignity in Dying made, particularly in my first year as chief executive.  She made such a difference in enabling me to do my job effectively and to reduce my stress levels.

Anne is rational and to the point, and crucially has the wisdom gained from having dealt with the challenges of being a chief executive herself.  Having the space to reflect upon and discuss solutions with someone whose only agenda is supporting you is invaluable.

David Aaronovitch

I saw Anne at work for several years when I was on the Board of FPA. I used to watch her handling difficult meetings or presenting policy options to a sceptical audience, and admired her combination of effectiveness, honesty and clarity. She could deal with reticent ministers, ranting campaigners and committee wall-flowers with equal aplomb. And she’s a fine dinner party hostess too.

Professor Tanya Byron

Tanya Byron

Clinical psychologist, writer and broadcaster
I met Anne when new to the board of the FPI and new to the role of being a trustee.  Very quickly I recognised that Anne was the role model I needed and with her support I soon become confident in my new and exciting role.

Anne is a dynamic woman with years of experience in the public and charity sectors.  She is succinct and not afraid to discuss challenging issues in a bold yet sensitive manner.  She combines wit and warmth with incredibly precise insights and shows a breath of perspective that is unique and unparalleled.

Sir Nick Partridge

Nick Partridge

Leading Health care and HIV/AIDS care activist
I first worked with Anne when we were appointed to the steering group for the national strategy for sexual health and HIV in 2000.  Anne’s ability to keep the end goal in sight while working with the art of the possible, encouraged and occasionally cajoled  the large and diverse steering group into delivering an ambitious and comprehensive strategy, supported by a £50 million investment from Government.

Anne’s passion, vision, experience and expertise were invaluable in shaping the strategy and, over the next ten years, ensuring it delivered better sexual health and HIV services for more people across the country. The approach Anne brought to the partnership working between FPA and Terrence Higgins Trust enabled both organisations to optimise their impact locally and nationally.

Baroness Joyce Gould of Potternewton

Joyce Gould

I have known Anne for many years as a colleague and friend. Her clarity of thought and passionate commitment to combatting prejudice and inequity has been a valuable source of advice and support to me in my work in the House of Lords.  Anne always gets to the core of an issue and finds imaginative and practical routes to achieve changes in public policy.

As President of FPA I saw first hand her effective leadership in restoring its financial health and establishing FPA at the forefront of influence with government and in the media, ensuring that sexual health had high priority in the public health agenda.  With her vast range of experience no one is better qualified than Anne to mentor chief executives and senior executives.

Richard Stein

Richard Stein

Richard Stein, Human Rights Lawyer
I worked closely with Anne in defending and extending women's abortion rights while she was Chief Executive at FPA, and particularly on a legal challenge concerning abortion in Northern Ireland.

I have worked with many NGOs, but working with Anne was a particular pleasure.  She has very clear strategic vision and an ability to convert an idea arising out of a brainstorm into a practical reality.  Her passion, enthusiasm and commitment played a massive part in inspiring a whole multidisciplinary team to deliver results.

Dr Katherine Rake

Katherine_Rake

Former Chief Executive, Healthwatch England
I had the pleasure of working with Anne while I was Chief Executive of the Family and Parenting Institute.

Anne listens carefully and draws from a depth of experience to provide wise counsel in a range of situations. She is an invaluable source of ideas and support and I would recommend her very highly as a mentor.
